Embark partners with the University of Toronto
Embark is proud to partner with the University of Toronto Technology Leadership program, designed for some of Canada’s top computer science students. These students are learning how to turn bold ideas into real solutions for families.

Real students, real problems, real learning
Built for students entering industry
Andrew Lo, CEO of Embark, and Michael McCarthy from the University of Toronto explain how the program helps students apply their skills to real-world problems and prepare for their careers.
This year's challenge:
How can we help parents with older kids switch their Registered Education Savings Plans (RESPs) to Embark?
Real-world practice

Identify key switching barriers and design clear pathways
Each team researches, brainstorms, and tests ideas just like in the real world.
Explore communications parents trust and understand
They build business cases, hold mock meetings, and share work with Embark leaders.
Propose solutions that fit budgets and timelines
At the end of the course, students present their final projects in a Dragon’s Den style setting. One team’s idea will move forward for future development with potential summer work experience.
How Embark fits in

Why it matters

This partnership builds more than software, it builds confidence and career skills. By linking education and industry, Embark helps students learn how technology can make education savings simpler for families.
It also shows what Embark stands for: guiding families and supporting education at every level.
