Terms and conditions

General:

Offer Start Date: June 11, 2024
Offer End Date: December 31, 2024, at 11:59 pm EST

Eligibility Criteria:

1. The Offer is available to all existing Embark Student Corp. (“Embark”) subscribers and New Subscribers (separately and collectively the “Offeree”) who meet all the following conditions:

a. In case of an existing subscriber, have an open Embark Student Plan (the “Plan”) with Embark and enroll at least one New Beneficiary before the offer End Date. In case of a New Subscriber, open a new Plan and enroll at least one New Beneficiary before the offer End Date.

A “New Subscriber” is a person that has never been a subscriber of an Embark Plan or a plan distributed by Knowledge First Financial Inc.

A “New Beneficiary” is defined as one that has not had their SIN previously registered with any Embark Student Corp. (formerly Knowledge First Financial Inc.) Plan. New Beneficiary must have a valid SIN and the newly opened plan must be eligible for registration with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as a RESP.

b. Present the Offer code KICKSTART to the licensed Embark representative or Education Savings Specialist, or enter the offer code KICKSTART in the promo code field of the digital onboarding process on embark.ca prior to the Offer End Date

OR

Present a unique Refer-a-Friend code (as detailed in the Embark Refer a Friend Offer Terms and Conditions) to the licensed Embark representative or Education Savings Specialist prior to the Offer End Date

OR

Use a Refer-a-Friend link (as detailed in the Embark Refer a Friend Offer Terms and Conditions) to the licensed Embark representative or Education Savings Specialist prior to the Offer End Date.

Bonus Conditions:

2. The eligible Offeree who enrolls at least one New Beneficiary into the Plan before the Offer End Date will receive a bonus (the “Bonus”) up to the maximum of $2,400 as follows:

3. The Bonus will be calculated on a rolling basis, based on the total number of New Beneficiaries enrolled in the Plan 60 days after account open until the Offer End Date. Any transfers out or terminations of the Plan with a New Beneficiary between the date of enrollment and the 60-day period after it will reduce the number of New Beneficiaries used in calculation of the Bonus.

4. The Bonus will be deposited into the Plan on a rolling basis within one hundred twenty (120) days from the date of enrollment of the most recent New Beneficiary. The Bonus shall not be paid in cash or other form. The Bonus cannot be paid to another related or unrelated RESP account outside of the Plan with the youngest New Beneficiary.

5. After fulfilling the Offer conditions, the Offeree must keep their Plan active for twelve (12 months) days after the date of the enrollment of the New Beneficiary. In the event of termination of the Plan within that timeline, the Bonus will be recalculated and subtracted from the balance of the Plan. When the Plan is terminated, standard closing costs and transfer out fees will apply, as defined in the Plan’s Prospectus.

6. The Bonus will be treated as a Contribution and will be eligible to attract applicable government grants and earn income.

“Contribution” means the amount you pay into your Plan. Plan fees are deducted from your contributions and the remaining amount is invested in your Plan.

Other Terms and Conditions:

7. It is the Offeree’s responsibility to know if they have enough contribution room in the Plan. If the Bonus exceeds the maximum amount of contributions allowed by the Canada Revenue Agency, Embark will not be held responsible for any taxes or penalties resulting from payment of any Bonus or excess contributions, or for the contributions not attracting grants.

8. All amounts are stated in Canadian dollars.

9. Embark reserves the right at its sole discretion to, without advance notice, terminate or suspend the Offer, in whole or in part, or modify it in any way.

10. Embark reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to suspend, disqualify, limit or revoke this Offer for any Offerree, whom it finds or believes to be manipulating or otherwise abusing the process, fairness, or integrity of the Offer. Bonuses earned through fraudulent activities or activities in violation of these Terms and Conditions will be null and void and repayment may be requested by Embark.

11. In the event of conflict, the Terms and Conditions will prevail over any of the contents of any brochure, promotional materials or statements, or any other communication regarding this Offer, whether written or oral from Embark, except where otherwise stated.

12. By accepting this Offer, you agree that you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions and agree to be bound by them. Any notice offered by us with respect to this Offer is deemed to be provided on the day it is posted on our website.
